1. What is IELTS
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an international standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. It is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English, and was established in 1989.
2. What are the four components of IELTS
The four components of IELTS are Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
3. What is the purpose of IELTS
The purpose of IELTS is to assess the language ability of non-native English language speakers who need to study or work where English is the language of communication. It is also used by governments, universities, employers, immigration authorities and professional bodies to assess the language proficiency of people who wish to study or work in an English-speaking environment.
