kit >entry 4
The first known use of kit fox was in 1805
1 This includes the San Joaquin kit fox and the Lange's metalmark butterfly.
2 Free-roaming dogs have also been known to attack wild animals, too — including endangered species such as kit foxes and desert tortoises.
3 As of January, the company knew of just two tortoises killed — one that may have been hit by a car, and another that may have been entombed in its burrow by roadwork, then eaten by a kit fox.
4 The mitigation lands are now reverting back to habitat for San Joaquin kit foxes, blunt-nosed leopard lizards, burrowing owls and other at-risk species.
5 The Fish and Game Commission has banned the trapping of river otters, desert kit foxes and red foxes, among other species.
